Steve + Heather ~ Green Sands, Hawaii

Dear Toby,

THANKS SO MUCH!!!!! There are only a few days in life when you want to remember every single moment, and none more important than your wedding day. When Heather and I decided to get married on Hawaii’s green sand beach, we made capturing that day on film about as challenging as it can get. The logistics of just getting ourselves in our wedding clothes into the maw of an extinct beachside volcano set two miles from the nearest pavement were daunting, to say the least. Finding a photographer in Hawaii who was not only willing to meet us there, but who could bring the very best technical and creative skills to bear – that was a whole different ball game. From the start, we knew simply by looking at Toby’s portfolio that he worked at a level above everyone else. Once he agreed to the project, we were simply ecstatic. It’s difficult to convey just how awesome Toby was – just as company – during the eight hours he was with us on that day. But the manner in which he worked with us on the shoot made our wedding absolutely fun! The only criticism I can conjure up is that it’s impossible to decide which pictures to put in our wedding album or to print. Each of the almost 1,000 images captures the moment more perfectly than we even remember it. Months later, we’re still looking at them every day and shaking our heads. There is simply no one better than Toby Hoogs… – Steve and Heather Erdman

I knew when Steve & Heather sent me their first email we were destined to produce amazing images.  The title of their email was “slighty insane wedding shoot”.  They explained to me that they had set their sights on one of the most unusual and unique beach locations on the Southernmost tip of the Big Island.  The  beach is named after the Green colored crystals that form this one -of-a-kind location.

Just before the ceremony began Heather’s Veil caught the onshore breeze and magically  flew up the cinder cone.   Amazingly this would not be the last time we’d see it!

As we were driving away from green sands.  Steve spotted the veil nearly a mile away from the beach.  He hopped over the barbed wire fence to grab it.  It was a nice addition to a windy day as,  you’ll see in the following images.
